Chemical industry

The chemical industry is composed of the following sectors: industrial chemicals, oil refineries, petroleum products and coal, rubber products, plastic products and other chemicals. The areas of greatest impact on the GDP are industrial chemicals and industrial cleaning sector items, hygiene and toilet.

National association
The Chemical Industries Association of Uruguay (ASIQUR) with more than 60 years of existence, has 34 members, which represent mainly companies in the areas of industrial chemicals, pesticides or agricultural chemicals, gases, cryogenics, detergents, chlorinated water and related and toiletries, hygiene and cleanliness.

The integration of ASIQUR includes national and multinational companies, which have 15 to 200 employees.

Adherence to Responsible Care Program for the Environment (Responsible Care) is mandatory since 2007.

ASIQUR belongs to the Chamber of Industry of Uruguay, and it is in permanent contact and cooperation with this institution, to promote the interests of domestic industry, to defend their rights and to stimulate the country's industrial development.
