Strengthening capacity building in Asia
Product stewardship and sustainability are among the topics being addressed at the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s (AIHA) inaugural Asia Pacific Occupational Health / Environment, Health and Safety Conference and Exhibition, taking place 11-13 October in Singapore. ICCA is cooperating with AIHA – a professional association of over 10,000 members focused on protecting worker health – to bring its product stewardship expertise to the event. Moving outside the United States for the first time, AIHA’s focus on education and training is expected to complement ICCA’s Global Product Strategy capacity building activities within the Asia Pacific chemical sector. The main programme is divided into two tracks: a Management Track on Stewardship and Sustainability; and a Technical Track covering a wide range of important topics. The two tracks will be bridged by a main platform of sessions led by speakers from across Asia and around the world. AIHA’s David Hicks, Senior Manager, Volunteer Engagement, says: ‘We hope that ICCA and AIHA will be able to work together on more projects as we share the focus that effective stewardship of chemicals will protect workers, property, the public and the environment as a whole.’ Further details are available at: www.aihaap.org.
