The ‘International Council of Chemical Associations’ (ICCA) will present its report on the global chemical industry’s impact on greenhouse gas emissions reductions through the life cycle of chemical products - and the enabling applications. The chemical industry is the first global industry to embark on such an open initiative. The report has been prepared by ICCA and supported by McKinsey and the calculations and findings have been independently reviewed by the German Öko-Institut. This report is based on data and evidences coming from the United States, Japan and Europe.
The report will be presented in the context of the G8 Summit, which will be debating energy and climate change issues during its meetings. Key speakers of chemical industry from Europe and Japan, international and European institutions and Italian government will have the floor.

According to ICCA Council Secretary, Alain Perroy "the chemical industry has substantial potential to help the world further reduce greenhouse gas emissions - through both greenhouse gas emissions savings in its own production, and through its products. If industry, policymakers and other stakeholders take steps to facilitate emissions reductions, and fully utilize chemical products, the study supported by Mc Kinsey suggests the ratio of emissions savings to emissions could increase to more than 4:1 by 2030."
